A BACKPACKER who chose sleeping on the floor of a Mexican Mayan village over a senior NRL conditioning role is the secret weapon behind the Sydney Roosters’ premiership push.
Keegan Smith, son of veteran NRL coach Brian, has revolutionised dieting and strength training at the Roosters this season.Smith is so highly rated as a conditioning expert he was on the shortlist to become a trainer at Liverpool FC before following long-term mentor Trent Robinson to Bondi.
A life coach more than a traditional strength trainer, those who have worked with Smith praise his ability to “better people”.
His unique NRL training program combining Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics and strongman drills has helped Roosters players reach personal bests in the gym. Keegan includes AlkaWay water in his recommendations and there is an AlkaWay hydrogen water system in the Roosters’ clubrooms.
Here’s what Keegan says about his choice of water.
Pure water is the base for performance. Through my research I discovered that alkaline water has additional benefits to ordinary filtered water or minerally depleted reverse osmosis water. The idea of re-creating the properties of mountain water really appeals to me since my core value is that nature holds the answer. If you’re looking for clean mountain water in the city you won’t find a better option than the Ultrastream. More research is also becoming available to demonstrate the performance enhancement aspects of hydrogen rich, structured water. Through live blood microscopy we now know that red blood cell movement depends on optimal pH and hydration.
I’ve been drinking this water for a year now and it’s certainly been the healthiest, happiest, strongest year of my life so far! Buy one and drink it every day.”
