What is “Ionized Water”?

It’s really a meaningless term. Yes, it is possible for water to contain dissolved ions (electrically-charged atoms or molecules), but that’s something else again. Almost all waters we find in nature acquire ions such as calcium and bicarbonate as they pass through our wear down rocks and sediments. Even the purest rainwater gains some hydrogen- and bicarbonate ions as it passes through carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Pure water consists as we all know – almost entirely of H2O molecules. These are loosely bound in a network-like structure, but please, don’t even mention ‘microclustered’ one of the favourite sales terms used by MLM water ionizer selllers. Individual molecules in water are serious ‘swingers’. They are constantly changing partners. Water molecules exhibit a very slight tendency to dissociate (“ionize”) into hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions: (H2O > H+ + OH-) but this reaction is severely limited by the fact that the reverse of this reaction is much more rapid, so that on the average, only about two out of every billion H2O molecules is dissociated. And we are talking about reforming and ‘swinging’ fast.. a matter of femtoseconds. Changing so fast, any idea of structure is a bit of a laugh in scientific circles. No electrical device or chemical additive is capable of increasing these ion concentrations in pure water above this very minute level which is so small that for most practical purposes pure water can be considered to be ion-free, as evidenced by the fact that it will not conduct an electric current.
Acidic and alkaline water
All water and all aqueous solutions contain both H+ and OH– ions. If the quantity of H+ exceeds that of the OH-, the water is termed acidic. If there are more OH- ions than H+, the water is alkaline. Pure water, containing equal numbers of both ions, is termed neutral.
Chemists express the degree of acidity or alkalinity on the pH scale. This runs from 0 to 14. Acidic solutions have pH values of less than 7, alkaline solutions more than 7. Pure water, being neutral, has a pH of exactly 7. Each unit on the pH scale represents a hundred-fold change in the ratio of the two kinds of ions; for example, if the pH is 8, there are 100 times as many OH- ions than H+ ions (that is, [H+] = 10-8, [OH-] = 10-6.)
Regardless of whether a water is acidic or alkaline, it always contains equal numbers of positive and negative electric charges. Since ‘alkaline’ water contains an excess of OH- ions, it must also contain some other kind of positive ion in addition to H+ in order to equalize the opposite charges. This extra positive ion is almost always a metal ion such as sodium, calcium or magnesium. Similarly, an acidic water must always contain negative ions in addition to OH-; the most common of these is bicarbonate HCO3-. This means that waters whose pH differs from 7 are never “pure” in the chemical sense.
“Ionized water” is one of many products and panaceas that the wonky wellness industry flogs presents to the very large segment of the general public that lacks the scientific background to distinguish scientific fact from pseudo scientific hype when the two are closely intertwined. What most of these treatment devices actually sell are grossly overpriced electrical devices that purport to produce “ionized” and alkaline water by the process of electrolysis.
The bottom line when it comes to ionized water…
“Ionized water” is nothing more than sales fiction. It is meaningless to chemists.
Most potable water is simply too unconductive to undergo significant electrolysis, and that’s why an electric water ionizer needs water with a fair amount of mineral ions in it; to facilitate electrolysis. To suimmarize, pure water can never be alkaline or acidic, nor can it be made so by electrolysis.
Groundwater containing metal ions such as calcium and magnesium can be rendered slightly alkaline by electrolysis. A pH test will show a high pH, but this does not correlate to higher levels of alkaline minerals in the water. One could say it’s a sort of ‘artificial’ alkalinity.
The idea that one must consume alkaline water to neutralize the effects of acidic foods is a little ambitious. The body is subject to and uses many factors to maintain its blood pH level of 7.35. If the water we drink has alkaline minerals in it, of course these minerals will be added to the body’s storehouse (buffer) of alkaline minerals, just as alkaline minerals in our food are also added. On the other side of the equation, we have a 24 hour pH balancing system. It’s called the breath.
Most claims about the health benefits of drinking alkaline water are just not supported by any volume of scientific evidence. Yes, as we have said, it has an effect. But the effect is so negligible that if you had to drink acidic rain water then nothing really terrible will ensue – contrary to what the electric ionizer vendors will tell you.
The most negative point of most electrolysis devices is their big box store-basic filtration. It’s simply amazing that people buy a $4000 water ionizer and get a vary basic filter. They are generally worthless for filtering water for health enhancement, removal of common impurities, disinfection, and scale control.
So.. is there an alternative?
From what we’ve explained so far, the major drawbacks of electrolysis water ionizers are:
- Ability to alkalize (add alkaline minerals to water)
I should add to this list the problem of excess calcium in source water. Vast areas of the world have ‘hard’ water supplies and the biggest name and most expensive water ionizers need weekly 20 minute water-wasting cleanses to maintain performance. Only certain electric units have made any advance in this area.
But there’s one other amazing fact the big name water ionizer companies are still ignoring. it’s a design ‘flaw’ that turns out to be a design benefit. And – although it’s hard to believe – the big companies resisted it strenuously,. even making legal threats to the discoverer of this amazing benefit. As you know, we are BIG on the benefits of alkaline water. recently we have been focusing on molecular hydrogen, which is infused into our UltraStream water as a result of a reaction between the purified water in the UltraStream and a special form of magnesium.
But alkaline water – especially magnesium-rich alkaline water, still has real benefits, especially considering the simple fact that vast regions of the world are deficient in magnesium. A recent Israeli report even blamed rising cardio vascular deaths on drinking reverse osmosis water and magnesium deficient soil!
So yes, our UltraStream water does contain magnesium and molecular hydrogen, but if you don’t have an UltraStream here’s a Do-It-Yourself tip for making a magnesium supplement equal to any on your health food store shelves.
Here’s how to easily and cheaply make magnesium rich alkaline water with a simple recipe. It really couldn’t be simpler.
What Do I Need?
You’ll need 2 litre bottle of carbonated water, and a bottle of plain Milk of Magnesia. This will make a concentrate- you need only add 2 Tablespoons (one ounce) per gallon of drinking water. It’s enough to treat over 135 litres of water!
How Does It Work?
The plain Milk of Magnesia (or magnesium hydroxide) is normally sold as a laxative, because the body isn’t able to effectively break the bond between the magnesium and hydroxide atoms. Because the body can’t break it down, the magnesium is not absorbed. This triggers a quick exit, which is why it’s such an effective laxative.
But don’t worry. This recipe causes a simple chemical reaction, which creates a highly absorbent form of magnesium. The carbon infused in the water (carbonated!) bonds with the magnesium, and creates magnesium bicarbonate. Remember chemistry class?
Mg(OH)2 + 2CO2 —> Mg(HCO3)2
Is This A Good Magnesium Supplement?
We use magnesium bicarbonate in our alkaline drops. Magnesium bicarb is absorbed at around a 50% rate, and in studies has raised blood levels of magnesium on par with IV infusions. If you compare it to tablet forms, liquid form is much more desirable for absorption.
How Much Magnesium Do You get?
By our reckoning, each 250ml (8oz) glass of alkaline water (using just 1 oz per gallon of the concentrate below) yields about 5 mg of magnesium and about 2.5 mg of bicarbonate. The Linus Pauling Institute supports the latest RDA for magnesium intake (400-420 mg/day for men and 310-320 mg/day for women) so you’re not going to overdose.
Keep it labeled and in the fridge, and you can add it to a container of drinking water in the fridge each morning, so the whole family can reap the benefits.
No, it won’t give you molecular hydrogen and yes, you will still be better off with your own Ultrastream!

No matter how often we talk about it here on this website and in our videos, there are vendors ‘out there’ still claiming that their high pH water is ‘alkaline water’.
1. “Alkaline water” is water with added alkaline minerals. It will give a high pH readings on a pH meter.
2. ‘High pH water is water with a high level of hydrogen atoms (ions). It can be artificially made to seem like alkaline water by using electrolysis.
What’s the difference?
Alkaline water contributes alkaline minerals to the body which can be used as a ‘buffer’ to counteract and neutralise excess acids. High pH water may have little to no alkaline minerals in it as therefore has little to no capability of acting as a buffer in the body.

Let’s talk about high blood pressure..and why chronic dehydration is seen by many experts the root of high blood pressure.
What is the common why to treat high blood pressure? Medication! For many people it does help drop their blood. But WHY do we have HBP? Have we addressed the root of the problem (chronic dehydration) or only masked it?
Over time there’s a high possibility that side effects of blood pressure medication may affect other organs.
People with high blood pressure on any form of blood pressure medication need to understand how dangerous high blood pressure is and what it will do to your body over time.
You don’t need to be a doctor to find out the root of your problem. It’s water. Or rather, the lack of it. To take it a little further. GOOD water.
According to the National Heart, Lung, and blood Institute high blood pressure (HBP) can lead to coronary heart disease,heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, and more health problems.
“Blood pressure” is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood. If this pressure rises and stays high over time, it can damage the body in many ways.
If you are a victim of this, you’re in a very big club. About 1 in 3 adults in the United States has HBP. The condition itself has few signs or symptoms. You may have it for years without knowing it. During this time HBP my be quietly degenerating your heart, blood vessels, kidneys, and other parts of your body.
Blood pressure doesn’t stay the same all the time. It lowers as you sleep and rises when you wake up. Blood pressure also rises when you’re excited, nervous, or active. If your numbers stay above normal most of the time, you may be at risk. Risk grows as blood pressure numbers rise. “Prehypertension” means you may end up with HBP.
If you’re being treated for HBP and have repeat readings in the normal range, your blood pressure is under control, but you still have the condition. You should see your doctor and follow your treatment plan to keep your blood pressure under control.
Blood pressure tends to rise with age. Following a healthy lifestyle helps some people delay or prevent this rise in blood pressure.
People who have HBP can take steps to control it and reduce their risk for related health problems. Key steps include following a healthy lifestyle, having ongoing medical care, and following your treatment plan.
But.. we mentioned water. What does that have to do with it?
CAN INSUFFICIENT WATER CAUSE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE?
Absolutely. Think of cooking Porridge.
You have ample water in the pot. Once the oatmeal is cooked, you can turn the pot upside down and the oatmeal will run out of the pot. Why? Because gravity is strong enough to pull the oatmeal from the pot.
Put too little water in the pot when cooking the oatmeal, the oatmeal will not run out of the pot when you turn it upside down.
Why? Because gravity is not strong enough to pull the thick oatmeal from the pot.
This is what happens when you don’t drink enough water and end up dehydrated. When you don’t drink enough water, you don’t have enough water in your blood – causing your blood to become too thick.
When the heart squeezes and pushes the thick blood up into the aorta, the blood has to fall down out of the aorta where the aorta bends. This is the equivalent of turning the pot of oatmeal upside down.
There is an intrinsic link between chronic hypertension, renal (kidney) failure, dehydration and a deficiency of alkjaline minerals. The real irony is that pharmaceutical medications to treat high blood pressure may further exacerbate dehydration and mineral loss in the body, which contributes to and in many cases causes renal dysfunction and sets up pictures for heart disease and congestive heart failure.
Water and alkaline electrolytes are absolutely two of the most critical components of normal, physiological function. Without a correct balance of fluid and electrolytes, the cells of our body lack the essential electrical conductivity necessary for cellular energy production. When fluid retention (A.K.A. oedema) accompanies hypertension, it is a primary indicator of intracellular fluid loss, and an accumulation of extracellular tissue fluids.
Oedema has very damaging effects upon cellular function because it damages and impedes the electronegative colloidal properties of body fluids.
Blood pressure medications, such as thiazide are diuretics. Diuretics deplete the body of alkaline potassium and magnesium, two critical electrolytes which maintain normal blood pressure and cellular function.
So what can you do?
1. Ensure you drink sufficient water.
2. Ensure you are getting sufficient alkaline electrolytes.
There is growing evidence that molecular hydrogen, the smallest, most common element in the world may assist blood pressure problems. This study is one of over 700 studies into the effects of H2, covering over 150 disease conditions.

It’s almost a tie. Around half of our populated regions on planet earth have hard water, the other half, soft water.
‘Hard water’ is water with calcium and (perhaps) magnesium dissolved in it. The term refers to water from your tap.
‘Soft water’ is the opposite. It has little or no dissolved minerals.
Both have their problems, so let’s discuss them first.
Because it carries alkaline minerals, hard water is also capable of depositing these minerals when you use it. Typical problems are calcium encrustation on kettles, glasses, hot water system elements, dishwashers. Even the kitchen tap can block up with calcium!
Also, because hard water is high in calcium, drinking it increases the amount of calcium we get internally. This sounds good.. but without the right calcium management strategy, it can be quite dangerous, with possible CVD, and no advantage to your skeleton.
The WHO has made very clear that demineralised or mineral free water is NOT healthy. The recent scientific study of Israeli deaths attributed to reverse osmosis water demonstrates the problem.
We have a need for set ratios of electrolytes (charged minerals) in our body and lack of them does have a resulting longterm health effect.
People do get confused about what should stay in your water and what should leave, but the above dire result demonstrates that we do need some minerals in our water.
Our water filtration decision, therefore, comes down to:
Maximum contaminant reduction.
Minimum dissolved mineral removal.
Your two choices are reverse osmosis and non-reverse osmosis..
..has been sold as the ultimate filter. While reverse osmosis is effective for removing a variety of contaminants in water, the reverse osmosis membrane alone does NOT remove volatile organic chemical (VOCs), chlorine and chloramines, pharmaceuticals, and a host of other synthetic chemicals found in municipal water. However, some newer, more expensive R.O. systems now have multi-stage filtration media (in addition to the R.O. membrane), such as activated carbon, which does remove chlorine and certain pesticides.
It is seen as the best all round contaminant filter system but as we have seen here it’s now clear that drinking ’empty’ water is a real health risk. (lack of electrolytes)
Vendors offer remineralising cartridges but frankly, most are of very poor quality, do not give a regulated dosage over the life of the filter, and are usually sourced from China.
Reverse osmosis is also a hard install job, the most difficult of all filters to keep replenished with replacement filters, and the hardest to repair. If you buy a quality RO you will most probably be also buying an ongoing contract for filter replacement by a professional who has to come to your home.
.. is your alternative. I’ll keep to the basic points of comparison here because this is a BIG subject.
The standard carbon filter you can buy off the shelf at a big box store is a basic filter and doesn’t come anywhere near an RO for contaminant removal.
It’s usually GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) the cheapest and least effective form of the most common filter material, carbon. Carbon works for chlorine, taste odor and smell, some pesticides and lead, but only for a short time. This is why these filters never show you a life-of-filter test result. Their first day of use is their best and it’s all downhill after that!
More advanced filters may include technologies like activated catalytic carbon, fluoride reduction media, heavy metal reduction media and electro-adsorptive technology to remove viruses, bacteria and cysts.
These cost more, naturally (you really do get what you pay for in filtration!) but give filtration efficiency even better than RO in some areas, without the complexity of installation, support and maintenance. The most important comparison point to RO is that they allow dissolved minerals through, but also remove the nasty ones (heavy metals).
Effects Of Hard Water
The ‘mechanism’ of hard water effects is:
1. Water with dissolved calcium enters a water filter.
2. Calcium comes out of solution and accretes on internal surfaces.
This may be caused by heat, passing through filter media, or a change in pH.
Reverse Osmosis water killing people? Yes.
There’s a whole industry profiting from our concept of ‘pure’ water.
And yet, we’ve never had ‘pure water’ in our whole history except, perhaps when we opened our mouths in a rain storm.
Pure water is NOT natural, and this report really shows its effect.
A new Israeli report states reverse osmosis desalinated water lacking magnesium is dangerous for heart patients and may have led to the deaths of hundreds of citizens last year. Magnesium is a critical element in more than 300 metabolic functions, but is lost through the desalination process. This is particularly problematic for Israel, as nearly 75 percent of its tap water is desalinated, more than any other country. So far the nation’s Finance Ministry and Water Authority have opposed plans to replace the pivotal mineral in drinking water, citing cost concerns.

The authors noted that Israel began producing desalinated sea water in 1978 but the level has increased steeply over just the past decade. Fresh water from the Israeli National Water Carrier accumulated in underground aquifers or the Kinneret naturally have significant amounts of magnesium and calcium, they wrote, but when salt and other minerals together with it are removed from the Mediterranean’s sea water, little or none of the minerals remain.If you don’t believe us, here’s another study where scientists changed the water fed to rabbits to reduced minerals. They changed nothing else, but the result was clear.
Increased cardiovascular risk.
Reverse osmosis desalination strips all minerals from our water.

How long has it been since I first heard a doctor telling people we need no help in alkaline balance – that’s it ‘just happens naturally’?
It began almost 15 years ago as I remember – and continues today.
So.. I’m just a basic human. No degree. No white coat and stethoscope… but…
Please explain to me how the body can adjust its pH if all we eat is acid forming? It’s a simple and incontrovertible fact that alkaline neutralises acid, so a body chock full of acids can only be rebalanced by……….. I’d love these doctors to fill in the gap. What does it use to effect the rebalance?

“It’s a complete waste of money. Your body maintains its pH within very tight parameters all by itself no matter what you drink. The idea that drinking alkaline water would have any affect is just counter to biochemical science and reality.”

So is there a middle ground in this argument? I do accept and understand that my body can and does regulate itself, but it doesn’t answer my query. And.. what about alkaline water vs. alkaline food?
Does the body regulate pH, and how?
It’s pretty simple. My body needs minerals. Minerals build our body, minerals aid digestion, minerals help me hydrate. I use minerals to build systems (ie skeletal~ calcium), I use minerals during digestion (Sodium Bicarbonate), I use minerals to support hydration, (Sodium). And as my body sources and utilises these minerals, its actual metabolic process creates acid waste.
It’s pretty obvious that we need a steady intake of minerals in both our liquid and our solid intake. The only other way I know is to take an Epsom salt bath, or use magnesium oil.
Along with intake we also have to consider how we get rid of wastes if we are trying to understand the theory the good doctors propose of allround automatic balance.
As much as we’d like it to, alkaline water doesn’t come anywhere near our daily required intake of alkaline minerals. Just look up RDA for calcium., then ask your water alkalizer man how much is in a glass of his water. Unless you live in a highly alkaline area it will be nowhere near your daily need.. and if it was you wouldn’t want to drink it. It’s be like a glassful of liquid chalk!
Of course it can help, (just as water dripping on a rock can help crack a rock), but I think we are all seeking the most practical way to supply our daily alkaline minerals, aren’t we?
There are other homespun ways – like drinking bicarb of soda in water… taking supplements and persevering with a mineral rich diet. It all works together.
Back to Reality
We are still baffled by the doctors’ statement of some sort of independently operating auto levelling pH system. Does it mean we can chug Coke all day to no effect? I did that as a kid. I was the Coke guzzling champ of high school.. and my teeth paid the price! It makes no sense.
So.. as I said earlier, I’m a mere mortal, a basic human.. but I’d really like to give the doctors who make this ‘Straight from the med school textbook’ statement a chance to explain themselves.
What I DO know is that whatever we use, our purpose of uptake of alkaline minerals is to replenish our depleted alkaline store within our body. The only assumption we make is that this buffer is depleted due to our modern acidic lifestyle. So it follows that whether it be food, water or supplement, it’s the alkaline minerals we want in an assimilable form. The four minerals are calcium, Magnesium, potassium and calcium. I use Alkaline Booster, which has all four minerals in a balanced form. A teaspoon a day fulfils my daily needs. Yes, I also eat as many good alkaline greens as I can and choose to drink alkaline water. But in my experience, this method ‘fills the cracks’ in my alkalizing strategy. In the fitness world, inflammation often gets bad press. It is perceived as an enemy of the body simply because when we are inflamed we’ve usually experienced some form of injuries and chronic pain. It’s certainly true that inflammation can be associated with almost about every major health problem we have in medicine today.
So… when people talk of inflammation that they immediately think of it as the bad guy..
This really isn’t the case.
We actually need a healthy amount of inflammation in the body. Inflammation is evidence of an active response to injury or illness by your immune system. Its function is to remove cellular debris from the site of damage and facilitate repair.
Like everyone, you’ve been injured, so your truth is that the injured area becomes stiff and sore. Your body can’t actually speak, so its way of telling you to be gentle on yourself is to limit range of motion in the affected area to prevent further damage. The body is applying its own version of a “splint” to allow it time to heal. Increased inflammation isn’t bad – it’s a part of your healing process.
It’s important not to upset this process by the body so that it can do the job properly.
Right now there’s quite a debate about the RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) method. It’s been around in sports therapy for a long time simply because there have been a tremendous amount of studies that show that chilling an area after injury can help it by slowing up the ‘healing process’. Ice slows blood flow, and also slows down inflammation response.
We end up taking on seemingly ‘logical’ methods that, while look good on paper, aren’t really ideal for what we are trying to accomplish. When we are injured, we need inflammation to do its job to heal that area, assist in getting the area mobile again, increasing blood flow, so that the healing process is sped up. But.. we don’t consult our own body about the strategy, do we? If we did it’d most likely:

Inflammation is not ‘bad’. It has many positive benefits. The real issue with inflammation is preventing it becoming chronic. This is when inflammation starts creating problems in our lives.
Much exercise creates what is terms by sports scientists as ‘micro trauma’ at the cellular level. We mortals call it muscular damage.
When this happens there’s a repair process that does involve an inflammatory response. Its purpose is a positive one that we should try to accept. It helps to promote healing and it is a part of the process of helping your muscles get stronger, and more ready for future training sessions. Actually, it’s often a stated goal of training regimens. This is the mild form of inflammation, and many of us feel it after exercise. It’s a component that helps us avoid more soreness from future training sessions. Most of us understand the process. It’s a part of the adaptation principle to stresses or demands on our body. In this way we can see the healthy inflammation response as something we can welcome in order to get stronger, faster, and more prepared for future training sessions.
This is a good thing… but chronic inflammation is something very different.
Chronic inflammation occurs when we managed to cause either too much damage at the cellular level, or we have created repetitive stress in a particular joint or soft tissue. Go crazy in the gym and do four times as much work as you usually do and can’t walk right for days and days after. That’s a good way to get chronic inflammation.
Excessive muscle soreness can seriously compromise our performance – just because we can’t actually stand the pain. One study of runners experiencing severe delayed onset muscle soreness showed running performance was reduced by as much as three percent. It may not look like a lot, but when over the entire lifetime of a runner’s performance lifespan their economy is only reduced on average by about 10 percent, that’s a significant amount.
So.. a bit of soreness isn’t much to worry about. It’s part of our natural adaptation to a new body stressor. However, a significant degree of soreness that changes movement patterns means that the joints will end up moving in ways to protect the injured area and create an environment for more injuries or problems.
Ok. So where does that leave us? For me, at age 69, my running days are over and I can amass enough pain and stiffness from a day in the garden. I have found two things to be very, very helpful, to the point that s long as I remember them, I am up bright and early the next day ready for another round of weed pulling.
I have two golden rules” Drink enough water – obviously my alkaline hydrogen rich water.. and I boost that with a small bottle of the same water plus two I LOVE H2 tablets dissolved in the same water, so I am getting a real ‘hit’ of H2.
And why am I so confident of this strategy? Well it works for me, but if you care to take a closer look at the amazing science of molecular hydrogen you’ll see that just one of its many health supporting properties is support for our natural inflammation cycle. OK, It’s a war zone ‘down there’. Or at least a ‘postwar zone. Your elimination system has been battling with acid overload all night, and in the early hours of the morning has assembled all that nasty acid in your bladder. That’s why your first ‘pee du jour’ is your most acidic.

One 250ml glass of warm lemon water with Himalayan salt in the morning can do wonders. Hydrogen Water Report
Matt Gordon called us last week. He’s from Bunnan, NSW.
Matt’s 40 and prior to ordering his UltraStream, was constantly stiff and in pain, had a bloated belly and had, in his words, ‘one foot in the grave’.

“Hello ladies and gentlemen. My name is Dr. George McDermott. I’m a state certified phlebotomist, which means I’m a blood doctor. As my kids jokingly call me, they call me sometimes Count Dracula.
What we’re going to be talking about today is just as serious as being under the fangs of Count Dracula, and that nemesis, that epidemic that is overtaking America is called acidosis.
Acidosis is too much blood acid in your blood system. It’s measured by pH. PH is a scale which only measures water, H2O. It’s a scale that goes and starts off from 0 and it ends at 14. Right here at 7 is pure rain water. From 0 to 7 is acid. From 7 to 14 is alkaline.
The human body was designed by God to be pH 7.365.
Very easy to remember, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, you need to be alkaline. For your sake and for your family’s sake and for your grandchildren’s sake, they all must be alkaline to enjoy the fruits of their life.
Americans, the majority of Americans are here at 6.8, and they are suffering from a condition called acidosis. Acidosis is a medical term that it very simply means they have too much blood acid.
This is caused by five different reasons.
Number one is the diet that we’re eating.
Americans eat too much fast foods, we have too many hamburgers, french fries, and of course, Coca-Cola is absolutely the worst thing you can drink.
The second reason why people have acidosis is because of stress.
Stress is killing Americans.
The third reason is because of too many parasites.
The fourth reason is because of drugs.
I’m talking about over the counter medications. I’m talking about aspirin, acetahetamine which is also called Tylenol. ll these medications have too much acid and too many Americans are doing these.
All four of these things we can control, but the one thing that we cannot control and the thing that is very important is the age.
Because the older we get, the more acidic we’re going to become.
This is going to destroy the quality of your life.
The human body goes through three states of life, from the time you’re to the time you’re 25, you are in what’s called an anabolic stage. This anabolic stage is a Greek word which simply means that you’re growing. When you are born, you are 7.7 on the pH scale. You start off at 7.7.
From 25 to 45 you are in what’s called homeostasis. At this period you are 7.0. This is a balancing act. That’s what homeostasis means. Starting off at 45, very slowly that you become more and more acidic. This situation medically is called catabolic. Catabolic is the opposite of anabolic. Catabolic is a Greek word which basically means you’re falling apart.
Now, the problem is is when you get to 6.4 on this pH scale which is out here, you die. This is a lifeline right here. You start off at 7.7, the middle of your life you’re about 7. As you start to become older and older, you become more and more acidic. When you reach 6.4 you shriveled up and basically you die.
It’s very, very critically important that you understand this acidosis, because what’s happening is as your body is moving this way, by drinking alkaline water you will be able to replenish the vital nutrients into your body and you will be able to remain more and more alkaline. Therefore, adjust your life so you will be able to live this way.
This is not only important for yourself, it’s important for your children and important for your grandchildren. Everybody needs to participate in this.
The easiest method of doing this is simply just drinking a glass of water, 8 glasses of water a day. By doing that, you are naturally restoring the alkalinity into your bloodstream and you’re keeping away from the ravages of chronic disease.
Chronic diseases are the diseases which are built up by too much acid waste in your body. These diseases very simply are cancer, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and the list goes on and on and on. This is the major diseases which kill Americans is all based on acidosis, too much acid in the bloodstream.
If you want to preserve your family, if you want to give your family the quality of life that they deserve, not only for yourself, but also for your children and your grandchildren, you must remain alkaline. It gives you the vitality. Young children have to be alkaline in order to grow. In order to have a mentally alert mind, you have to be alkaline. That’s the reason why it’s so critically important for you to alkalize your body all the time by drinking alkaline water.”
How to end carb cravings … FINALLY!
I don’t think there’s anyone on earth that has escaped suffering the intensity of carb cravings.
The bread basket at the restaurant just sits there openly seducing you.
That load of pasta that was supposed to feed eight has mysteriously .. gone!
The chips machine at work whispers to you every time you pass.
Your mind tries to work but just can’t rid itself of the image of a muffin, donut or bagel .
This is the nether world of carb cravings, and it’s real for 99.9% of people. But like a true addict, most of us deny it.
The Truth: All carbs are not created equal
Yes, carbohydrates may be a necessary food group, but starchy carbs are the least healthy (and most addicting) form.
Yes, they may provide some nutrients, but starchy carbs turn to sugar upon digestion. They aren’t much better than eating a candy bar or cookie. Want an example? Potato!
So for healthy, nutritious carbs, vegies and legumes are by far your best choice.
Why must you be so deprived?
There are many reasons that we carve carbs, and you can help curb your cravings if you figure out what may be behind them.
Here are some possibilities: (feel free to den them, but they ain’t going away!)
Most of us are Carbohydrate Addicts
Current research says very clearly that the primary underlying cause of carbohydrate addiction is in your brain’s reward system.
Sugar and starchy carbohydrate foods cause the release of serotonin (your body’s feelgood chemical) and it gives us a calming sensation.
Refined Carbohydrates also trigger increased releases of dopamine and norepinephrine. Your brain becomes deluged with these neurotransmitters, and a feeling of euphoria results and a craving for more refined carbohydrates is stimulated. Crazy, man!
An underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) may cause feeling of fatigue. Many people reach for refined carbohydrate pick-me-ups including soda, chips, candy bars, crackers and other similar foods to combat this fatigue.
Yeast feeds on sugar, and with enough sugar can multiply out of control and overcome your friendly intestinal flora (which normally helps to keep yeast in check and under control).
A vicious cycle begins where yeast, wanting more nourishment, triggers cravings for sugar, which in turn leads to greater yeast overgrowth, which then triggers more intense cravings for sugar.
Stress and adrenal overload
Stress triggers the release of the hormone cortisol which can give you an intense appetite for sugars and fats.
Menopause and/or pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS)
When levels of the hormones estrogen and progesterone drop, women may be more prone to insulin resistance The body’s cells don’t respond as they should to insulin. This can cause sugar cravings to soar. The cells haven’t received the glucose they were expecting from the bloodstream.
Depressed people often report feeling less depressed after eating high-carb snack foods.
This can be a demonstration of the increased production of serotonin after refined carbohydrate ingestion, which mimics the action of antidepressant medications.
Lacking nutrients can trigger cravings, especially the B vitamins.
What You Can Do
Obviously if there is an underlying problem, we need to address it. Here’s some measures that can help:
- Probiotics: help keep yeast under control.
- Multi-vitamin: To ensure that any nutrients that may be missing in your diet are provided.
- Vitamin D: Low Vitamin D levels are associated with decreased satiety.
- Eat a healthy, whole foods diet to provide a variety of healthy nutrients, fiber and antioxidants.
- Avoid refined carbohydrates at all cost. Completely eliminate them from the refrigerator, cupboard and pantry, and bring protein snacks to work with you. There no simple or halfway answer here. Would you suggest your heroin addicted son could just shoot up on weekends? It’s cold turkey or nothing.
- Cook meals at home versus dining out. At home meals can encourage better control over what is served, and avoids the temptation of the bread basket, desserts and carbohydrate-rich dishes like pasta. And.. even if the restaurant is expensive.. it’s still not going to make food or oil choices with the same intention of your ultimate health that you can have with your own food selections.
- Drink plenty of alkaline high hydrogen water. Dehydration is the number one nutritional deficiency in North America. Our bodies often mistake hunger for thirst, and not drinking enough water can lead to overeating. but remember.. there’s water.. and there’s water!
- Avoid caffeine. Caffeine can aggravate sugar addiction (when a person comes down from a caffeine-induced energy ‘high,’ they often reach for sugar).
You can do it! We did, and there is still the same love of food on the ‘other side’.
How do you set yourself up for the day? A natural alkaline ‘shot’.
I love to get up early, a bit of yoga, meditation without fail, a shower, a healthy paleo breakfast,and then out the door. Sound familiar?I think my morning routine is already exceptional. But I have a mighty elixir that compliments my regimen fabulously.

According to research from the Department of Stomatology at the University of California, San Francisco, curcumin possesses anti-inflammatory properties. The research, published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine(2004), found that curcumin, “may exert its anti-inflammatory activity by inhibition of a number of different molecules that play a role in inflammation.”
Curcumin’s anticancer potential:
Curcumin may play a vital role in cancer prevention, according to a study published in BioMed Research International (2014). Previous research has highlighted curcumin’s antioxidant, antibacterial and antitumor properties, according to the study, which concluded, “Curcumin, a vital constituent of the spice turmeric, is an alternative approach in the prevention of cancer.”
Therapeutic applications of curcumin:
According to a review study published in the AAPS Journal (2013), “curcumin has shown therapeutic potential against a number of human diseases,”including multiple types of cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, arthritis, peptic ulcers, psoriasis, H. pylori infection, Alzheimer’s disease, acute coronary syndrome, atherosclerosis, diabetes, and respiratory tract infections.
So.. here’s my secret morning elixir.
What you’ll need…
1/2 a lemon, squeezed for juice
1/4 – 1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp honey if you can’t take it!
1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
1 cup warm water.
How to make it…
Mix the lemon juice, turmeric and honey into your cup of warm water. Stir well. Sprinkle cinnamon on top and continue to stir your morning elixir as you drink it (this will ensure that the turmeric doesn’t settle at the bottom of your cup.
Turmeric with its main active ingredient, curcumin, may be that one healthy addition to your morning routine you’ve been looking for. I enjoy this elixir nearly every morning with fruit, which adds a sweet, delicious twist.

Yes, I know, we all agree on Group 1, but what about the rest?
If you’ve ever used pH strips.. then used liquid pH reagent, you’ll now that the strips seem to read lower than the reagent when used to measure alkaline water.
We’d have people calling us up to tell us their AlkaWay system wasn’t measuring up.. and eventually we got it! They were using pH strips.
We send them pH drops, and voila! like magic, their water is testing good pH again.When they use pH reagent drops that change the water color to show pH level , it immediately registers correct.
It’s all about alkalinity vs. pH.
pH test Strips are designed to test body fluids. Our body fluids – urine and saliva are ‘alkaline’ but not high pH (see the video below.) This just means our fluids have a concentration of alkaline minerals in the water. Things like electrolytes, salts and other mineral compounds constitute the alkaline material. It’s this concentration which registers on a pH strip
With what we generally refer to as alkaline water, there is a difference between alkalinity and pH level.
With electric water ionizers, that don’t actually add any alkaline minerals to the water, that difference can be pretty large. It’s the reason the pH level can fall quickly after removing it from the the machine. With natural systems like the UltraStream, that difference is usually less, which results in a water that loses pH slower.
In the UltraStream we are using alkaline calcium and magnesium that contributes to the alkalinity of the water, and a reaction of the water awith the special Japanese magnesium media that concentrates molecular hydrogen in the water over and above the H2 in the H2O. Asa result it’s been tested to almost 4 x the H2 of a $4000 electric water ionizer.
It’s this difference between alkaline and pH that causes the strips to be inaccurate when testing the water. We use drops to test our water, and strips to test our body pH.
